Volunteering with Girl Scouts
From March 2002-December 2006 I served as the Cadette/Senior Consultant assisting with a Cadette/Senior Troop (7th-12th graders) and serving as a resource for all older girl troops in the local service unit.
After moving to North Carolina I helped out with a troop of Brownies from March 2007 till they bridged to being Juniors. The next year leader of the troop (Sept. 2007-July 2008) I became the leader of the troop and some new girls joined us as we learned and explored.
In March 2009 I took over a Daisy troop whose former leader needed to set down. We had a great time as they earned their Daisy petals which focus on the Girl Scout law.
In May 2009 I moved into Pittsburgh and the Daisy troop became Brownies. From September 2009-May 2010 I served as a Co-Leader for a Junior troop. The leader was new and I was able as the Co-Leader to support and encourage her as she grew in the role.
Beginning in March 2009 I began serving as a Facilitator of Adult Learning for the Girl Scouts of Western PA council. I served as a committee member for the Spring Enrichment Event on March 28, 2009 and was the Committee Chair of Adult Enrichment day on November 12, 2009.
Trainings Facilitated:
Swaps and Friendship Activities, Spring Enrichment Event, March 28, 2009, LaRoche College
Traditions and Fundamentals, October 2009, Pittsburgh, PA
Another joy in being a Girl Scout volunteer was serving as a Counselor for Destination: Eco Power in July 2009 which was held at Chatham University.I had the honor of being selected to assist the 7-9 grade girls coming from all over the United States and Guam to discover how they can positively impact the environment.
